COMPLETE SERVICE
Grant Metal has the expertise, ability, and space to
accommodate demanding production requirements. Our
competitive advantage has been our ability to complete each
job with accuracy and precision, on time and on budget.
AutoCAD capability means production drawings can be created
in-house.
Custom fabrication is what we do at Grant Metal Products.
While we do not offer design services, there is an excellent
possibility we can provide insight, advice, and qualified
input into your unique production challenges. In our many
years of experience we may have helped other customers solve
similar manufacturing problems. It will be our pleasure to
answer questions about issues like material availability,
formability, and size limitations.
SHEARING
Our primary power shears can accommodate sheets up to 12
feet long with a thickness of 12-gauge steel. They can cut
Aluminum up to Ό thick. Grant Metal selected
these shears because they have extremely low rake angles and
will reduce the amount of twist and distortion on narrow
cuts.
PUNCHING
Much of our punching is done with a system of unit punches
in a press brake that allows holes, slots, and even notches
to be cut in lengths up to 12 feet in one hit. The system is
very flexible and uses standard punches and dies. Custom
punches are available for special applications.
NOTCHING
Within the strip punching system, Grant Metal uses corner
notchers along with coping notchers. In many cases, this
allows us to punch and notch a large workpiece with great
speed and accuracy. When the notch is irregular, we use our
CNC router.
ROUTERING
Our CNC router allows us to cut most shapes from large metal
sheets eliminating the need to handle individual pieces in
the midst of the process. The system is particularly useful
for non-standard holes or notches.
Maximum sheet size is 72 x 126
Larger sheets can be handled by repositioning.
CNC capability assures an accuracy that we could not
accommodate using other methods.
We can easily cut aluminum up to Ό and steel up to 16
gauge.
In response to customer requests, we are testing the
routers cutting ability using other materials and gauges.
Brass, copper, plastic, wood and Dibond are readily cut.
Unlike other methods, the CNC Router does not burn or haze
prefinished materials.
BENDING
Brakeshapes are formed on 12 and 14 foot long hydraulic press
brakes using a variety of standard and custom die sets. As
significant volumes of product are made using highly
finished materials, dies are covered to prevent marking
during bending.
WELDING
MIG welding services are available only for non structural
uses such as back pan assembly or custom applications.
STUD WELDING
Welding studs on the back of heavier aluminum panels (over
.081) may provide an excellent method for attaching
brackets or stiffeners without showing fasteners or marks on
the finished surface. Studs can also be applied to other
materials.
ASSEMBLY
Assembly options are available for products that include
components we have produced. Examples include:
Backpans Sealing, insulating and pinning the insulation
Louvers Cutting, spacing and riveting
Sandwich Boards Assembly to handles and chains, etc.
Cabinets Assemble parts to hinges, latches, etc.
OUTSOURCING
Due to the tremendous growth of our industry, there are
custom applications that require services we do not provide
at Grant Metal. To meet our customers needs, we may
outsource specific tasks and build them into the total
package. For a complete overview of the benefits of
outsourcing, read the Glass Canada Magazine feature
